ASTM A268 TP409 aluminized stainless steel tubes combine 409 ferritic stainless steel with a hot-dip aluminum-silicon coating. Designed for automotive exhaust systems, they offer excellent corrosion resistance, heat resistance up to 843°C, good formability, and significant cost savings over 304 stainless steel. Available in welded execution, OD 8-219mm, WT 0.33-3.0mm, custom lengths. MTC provided.

Raw material selection

Our TP409 aluminized stainless steel tubes are produced from high-quality 409 ferritic stainless steel coils sourced from reputable mills, with a hot-dip aluminum-silicon coating applied per ASTM A463 Type 1 specifications. The base material conforms to ASTM A268 / ASME SA268 standards, with chromium content of 10.5–11.7% and titanium stabilization (6 × C% min – 0.75 max) for excellent weldability and oxidation resistance.

Our ASTM A268 TP409 aluminized stainless steel tubes are manufactured by the welded process, in full compliance with ASTM A268/A268M standards for the base material and ASTM A463 Type 1 for the aluminum-silicon coating. The 409 ferritic stainless steel substrate is roll-formed into tubular shape and welded using advanced ERW/TIG technology, followed by hot-dip aluminizing to apply a metallurgically bonded aluminum-silicon coating (approx. 90% Al + 10% Si) that provides superior corrosion and heat resistance for automotive exhaust applications.

1. Are you a manufacturer?

3. Do your materials comply with international standards?

· AISI 409: compliant with required specifications, with tensile strength typically in the range of 360–380 MPa, depending on the material batch

4. Do you offer annealed, matte surface, or internal seam treatment?

Our standard production does not include annealing, matte finishing, or internal seam pickling/flattening. However, we use laser welding technology, which results in a very small internal weld bead that generally does not interfere with further processing such as mandrel bending.

If required, we can arrange outsourced services such as:

· Annealing 

· Pickling 

· Other surface treatments 

These services are available at additional cost depending on the specification and order volume.

 

5. Can you provide PPAP documentation?

Yes, we can provide Level 3 PPAP documentation when required.

Each part number can be supplied with its own complete PPAP package, including a duly signed PSW by an authorized representative.

We offer different welding processes depending on the material grade, diameter, wall thickness, and technical requirements.

Maximum length depends on product specification and shipping method. For container loading, lengths up to 5,842 mm are feasible for certain applications.

 

8. What packaging options do you offer?

We can provide packaging according to customer requirements.

Common packaging options include:
